Update time once again...

Well, after discovering that the way I was presenting the mudflaps was completely historically inaccurate to the point that I didnt feel comfortable with it, I reverted back to the original kit parts after fussing over it for a few days while finishing up my work obligations.

Image
In this picture, you can see that the rod goes through the center of the hinge. The Eduard PE set parts were completely wrong and inaccurate (Eduard reps, I hope you see this as its a waste of my hard earned money to have things I cant use and you shouldnt produce). Aber makes a PE set that completely and accurately represents this feature...maybe on my next PZ IV.

Image
Due to these problems, I went back to the original kit parts as they are accurately represented, albeit, in plastic. I re-attached the scratch built springs and attached the rear flaps and springs as well.

Image
Tomorrow, I will attach the hinges from the abandoned front flaps to the rear flaps..for whatever reason, they didnt line up on these parts. I think it will be passable in appearance. This completes this bloody slog of back and forth on these damn parts. Thats it! No more! ... hopefully. ;)

Well, Ive made a small amount of progress today. Getting the commanders coupoula prepped for assembly and paint. I dry fitted these parts already and this section of this kit is a small work of art. Some of the viewports will be open and a couple will be closed. Im seriously thinking about posing the hatch open so that this amount of detail can be seen. I have no real plans for this vehicle other than display, no diorama or anything like that.

Ive also started getting some of the paint on the hull. I was intending to just do the areas where the extra armor is attached, but had some paint left over and thought I would hit some other areas. This will all be blended in of course. Again, the actual color is much darker..not sure whats up with my camera :?:

Slow but sure- no need to be in a rush.
BTW for exposure have you tried or are you able to do bracketing for different exposures of the same object you are photographing?

Another small update before work begins on the turret, gun and interior. Finished assembly and paint of the coupola..very nice set of parts and even with paint, it went together flawlessly. Some touching up is still needed and I have to attach the hatches. Does anyone know if the pads on the inside of the hatch lids were black or brown leather? I havent been able to find anything about that. The interior color of the coupola is Vallejo Buff (70976). Panzer grey exterior color is Tamiya German Grey XF-63.
