That is my own experience say: a week is a good time for the oils set (specially in autumn or winter). It is not a math rule, but is better be sure, because if you paint or varnish over not setted oils, perhaps the paint/varnish will crack.
Beside, it depends too of the solvent you use: white spirit set faster than turpentine.
Some modellers, including me, used to put the oils 15 min or so on a piece of cardboard or kitchen paper before use; this reduced the oiled part of the paint and help the paint not be so shiny.
I hope my spanglish was good enough to get me
Cheers

Good pointers, I'll have to keep that in mind next time. Before seeing your post about waiting on the oil I had applied a matt coat to reduce the future glare. Thanks Dario

So I think I wrapped this one up. Not totally pleased with the figure head but I've never really worked with something so small. I am proud of the goggles head band which is a thinly cut piece of tape. I painted the face scarf a different color far variety like Dario mentioned, and looking at some DAK uniform pictures I found they used a yellowish scarf. So with paint I used it's a different shade but still blends seems too much the same with the who figure. Maybe a white? I added some weathering grim on his pants with a tan enamal around the boots, knees and back. Also put some pigments on though I may wait to get some different shades. I don't know if any of you have noticed but all of my models have used the same pigment color. I ordered about ten new Mig jars and will get them next week.
