WIP DML #6321 Hummel Late Smart Kit

WIP DML #6321 Hummel Late Smart Kit

Postby Tony Lee Watts » Sat Aug 22, 2009 12:17 pm

I started on the Hummel since I was waiting on a paint order for the 17cm Super Tiger and was so carried away with the
build that I forgot to take any picture until I had reached this point.

Like most Smart Kits this one has been a pleasure to build but those instructions are a bit confusing in places.Thats why
the brass shrapnel deflectors were installed in the wrong place but it was easy to move them where they belonged(second pic)

Right now i've got to paint the interior of the casement so I can close it up and move on to the exterior.
Until then see ya later

Started working on the gun.

The cartridge locker is finished up.

I also tried to make a camo net today but I think that green is just a little too bright don't you think?

Yep! Much better with that cammo net color :D
The painting beside the Mausers looks a little....granulous (sorry if this is not the right word  )

I kinda wanted it to look rough because it's steel plate Dario. Should it be smooth instead?

Well I put some paint on it this morning and before anyone doubts its a real scheme the 2./s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt.560 used it on their SPGs in 1943. I saw it somewhere and thought it was very different from what everyone else was doing so I took the plunge and tried to copy what I saw. It's not perfect but it's the best I can do at this point in my career. :D
