Tristar Kit No. 043; German Leichter Panzerspahwagen (2cm) Mid Version Sd.Kfz. 222

Here the instruction sheet for this modern take by the Tristar company, several degrees more accurate and finessed that the ancient Tamiya offering, (which you will find on the website as I am building it as well) ;B;
BTW the instruction sheet is here http://tinyurl.com/35vuevy in pdf format

This is what it looks like after completing Step 1. One needs to be careful with how it all lines up because if things are not true here it will cause issues later.

Here is a look at some of the other detailing that Tristar has for the suspension!
Image

Image

The holes that are provided on the chassis frame parts C1 and C2 for the pins on the F-9 and F-10 parts are very large- I did consider filling and making smaller holes but laziness won out. In the end the result is satisfactory.
One other thing which I don't believe is mentioned in Terry's assessment and critique is that the tow hooks that are called out are mixed up. wss.
The numbers are reversed.
C-24 and C-25 are asked for to be glued onto the front of the chassis but I think they got this wrong. I held off gluing mine on because it's not clear as to where they should go, the drawing and part fit is a bit confusing, and I wanted to wait till other parts were installed to help with how these should go in. Good thing as later when I looked at the lower body tub and some of the assembly in Step 11 it asks for C-28 and C-27 to be glued onto the back end. These have the two bolts that show ion the assembly Step 2 and as such these need to go on the front Parts C-24 and C-25 have a proud little pin that needs to go into the lower body at the back.

All the parts from Step 1 to Step 5 now in place.

In this picture you can see some grey nuts that I have glued into place to make a more presentable and realistic looking junction point were many of the steering and suspension bars etc. come together. These are slotted Hex Nuts from Master club and I thing they add a sense of authenticity.

Good save on the suspension! Guess that Dragon isn't the only company that makes mistakes on their directions.
Interesting on how things have changed model-wise since Tamiya came out with theirs.
