Did the Bergpanzer IV have zimmerite?

no! i don't think the berge had zimmerit!

major refurbishment means a thorough overhaul in the factory so why should they have refreshed earlier applied and damaged zimmerit?

achtungpanzer states on the bergepanzer:

Panzer IV was also converted to Bergepanzer IV (recovery vehicle) and from October to December of 1944 (or even March of 1945), some 36 were manufactured by rebuilding various models.

various models! that means some may have remainings of zimmerit applied and some not! the majority most probably not and those who would have had some remainings would most probably have them removed! (however this was done ... maybe with sledgehammers)
