I had read a lot of tutorials of figure painting and much of them reccomend red sable brushes. I read too Windsor & Newton has ones of the best (and expensive) brushes.
I reccomend S.Paine book "Building and Painting Scales Figures"

The book talk much about oils, not acrilic, but the basics (specially how and where to put shadows and lightings) are OK for me.

Will do Jamie. My desk lamp is playing up at the moment but as soon as I can I will get figure painting.

I'm also constructing some etch for my Panther build. Updates soon.

Sable brushes are the way to go. I have a Vallejo Kolinsky Red Sable 000 brush and a Windsor and Newton Sceptre Gold 0000 Sable/Synthetic blend brush which are nice brushes.
