Steyr Schienenpanzer Artilleriewagen: Scratch 1/35

Postby Dario Risso » Mon Jan 25, 2010 9:17 pm

Welly welly welly well !!Thanks James for create this forum thumb3

I will try to scrachtbuild this armoured loco, using Revell/Dragon's model as reference
This is what I'm talking about

http://www.track-link.net/gallery/1503

I started the proyect in the last days of past year; then I was in vacations (remember, we, people of the South part of the Earth are "enjoying" the summer: 30-35 º each day )

I started the easiest part, the armored sheets

Image

This is my "aftermarket" material; as you can see, almost all comes from the pharmacys where I've works some time ago :)

Image

This is my main worries: the vents grills.
At the left are the 2 first prototypes, in plastic. The last is the paper prototype that will be transfered to copper sheet

Image

This is the first grill...it just left ....11 to build

Image

I made it in 2 parts

Image

The wheels, made with plasticard

Image

And painted

Image

The mufflers and a failed hook  (the upper is the original)

Image

I has to broke all the chassis parts, due to a mistake in measurements  So, I re-start the proyect with the hull

I add the 2 front lights, made with parts of Demag D7 and aluminum discs

Image

Image

Image

Image

Some details added; the grey parts are from the Revell sSP Kommandowagen. I made a mold with epoxi 2 components putty for the nuts, then I made the nuts with melted plastic sprue

Thanks Jamie!

Well, some updates. I've received some spare parts from a friend (Gracias Huguito!) and other friend gives me parts of the Pz III turret (Gracias Diegote!)

I made some copies os the air intakes caps, using latex as moulding and dental acrilic for the parts

Image

Turret, still in progress

Image

I made the tiny drain holes for the commander's cupola, using a .3 mm drill bit

Image

Turret requires some welding, so I made it using stretched sprue melted with toluen

Image

As it look today

Ideas, crítics y comments, all wellcomed

Very nice scratch building Dario.thumb6
