Fault list see photos below for fault locations.

1. Rear panel:

Should have 9 holes on the top row and 11 holes on the bottom row.

2. Coffee tap:

Should be central in the panel. Not standard type of tap.

3. Central Firebox door:

Hinged wrong way round. The hinge should be on the left side.

4. Guides for raising and lowering ash trays:

Should be hollow rectangles with a T handle. Right hand guide should be on the left side of the central firebox.

5. Ash trays:

Should be supported by chains.

6. Coffee compartment lid:

Instructions show to place this opposite way round. Hinges should face chimney. Correct position on my build. Missing locking arms on sides.

7. Cooking pot lid:

Missing lifting handle. Incorrect locking arms,

8. Chimney:

Missing flue control and locking tab on rear side.

9. Front storage compartments:

Left hand side compartment lid should be wider than right side.

10. Wheels:

Missing circular top to locking pin and locking wire at the bottom.
Bolt heads should be rounded not flat.

11. Chassis:

Towing eyes identical in size. Top eye should be smaller.
Missing extending arm and supporting/levelling pole on rear right side.

12. Front panel:

Hinged door should be a pull out tray for ground coffee.

13. Holes on left side:

Should be 8 holes on the side and 4 holes on the horizontal panel above it. (Between the coffee hatch and the storage compartment.)

Other:

Missing pressure valve behind chimney next to the coffee hatch.

Missing hatch on left side under storage compartment.

Missing wood blocks for securing food container on top of the chassis.

Missing glycerine filler hole.

Missing coffee grinder handle hole below left hand storage compartment. (Above No.12)

Size:

Significantly larger than actual kitchen. Actual dimensions to be confirmed in the New Year after museum visit.

Conclusion

I was looking forward to this kit and it was a disappointment to find lots of issues. There are two small field kitchens that can be easily accessed in two European museums as well as 100's of original photos available online that IBG could have used to improve this kit. Unfortunately due to the size and accuracy issues listed above I cannot recommend this kit.

Very informative Tim, but like you said the biggest problem is the overall size. The other little problems can be fixed (most rather easily) but the size is a huge problem. Great job.
