Bergepanzer IV - Dragon 6438

Bergepanzer IV - Dragon 6438

Postby Dario Risso » Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:19 pm

New project, started yesterday. The good (and bad) things with this vehicle is the lack of info: just 2 pics (and one seems to be a munitionpanzer) and some Doyle's drawing.

The box give us 18 sprues, with 780 parts; at least 50 of them will be not used. There are some P.E. parts, 2 tiny golden metal chains for the crane and a piece of metal for the towing cable
The decals are only 4 balkenkreuze
There is only a kind of firewall for the interior

21 of this vehicles was produced between oct.44-mar.45, modifying the Pz.Kpfw.IV that needs repairs or overhauling; the return roller are of the steel type, so I supose they belongs to Ausf. H late or Ausf J
The painting schemes are 2: 1 in dunkelgelb and 1 in 3 colors camo, both of Unidentified units, Germany, 1945
Let's start with the assembly:

I don't know if the right position of the bogies is like in this picture; they are not at 90 º of the floor :|

Image

I want to add some detail to the interior, at least that visible under the wood "hatch", so I cut the hatch and grab some wood grain on the below side

Image

Fortunately, a friend has the Trumpeter kit, so, I will copy some details

Thanks for looking and comment

Is this the same thing? This is one of the models in the contest on Amorama.

I wonder is the same, Tony; I've not see it in Armorama yet

Today updates:

Construction of a base wich will replace the space of the fuel tanks and the pipes protectors; the access doors to engine compartment (It still lacks of details) and the hot air pipe

Image

Wood floor

Image

Nothing of that will be visible with the rounded cap in place

I don't think the floor was a waste of time because that's a pretty good size hatch opening you've got there. 8-)

Thanks, Tony.
The interior is almost finished; any idea of others elements that can be carried here? I will put 2 jerrycans and a tool box, but it looks ...poor

Image

There is a fail here, with the rear fenders; look how the left one is misaligned if you don't make some modifications with the cutter

Image

Tomorrow I will experiment with the MIlliput and Lion Roar tools for zimmerit

Cheers

Glad to see the extra effort to apply the zim- as the reasoning is that since these vehicles were made from re-fit Panzer IVs that most lieley had it. The result looks pretty good too.
