IMHO, you don't ruin them al all !!! It looks more real yet
I used to add dried mud (you know, those magical mixes: very fine sand + pigment+ acrilic gel + ....Marlboro ashes :oops: ...I used whatever I find near my workbench) or earth color between recessed parts of tracks, so....little rust to see in my models

Time to dry out and check for any tune-ups that it might need before a flat coat,chalks and pigments.

Looks great. I like it a lot.

But maybe some weathering on the Balkenkreuze and the numbers would make them stick out less...

Guys when I saw the pictures I thought that too but they are not that bright with the lights off of them.
I may go back and put just a little more wash on them just in case. :)
